Health Insurance

The American health system is very different from ours. The major difference is that it is very expensive. The patient pays for everything. There is no help from the state (with small exceptions for the elderly and handicapped people). But, it is very modern, benefiting from the latest technology. In case of an accident, having no medical insurance means paying for the entire medical intervention on one’s own.

 
All AE participants have the benefit of medical insurance according to the legal regulations of the US State Department, and it is included in the program cost. This is necessary in order to travel outside Romania and it is valid on the US territory and within the transit countries.
The insured sum covers the treatment costs in case of hospitalization, early return in the country of origin (for medical reasons), urgent dental treatment, luggage and plane ticket loss etc.
