Medical Insurance

The American health system is very different than ours. major disadvantage is that it will cost you (a lot!)!). All is paid by the patient. There is no help from the government (with small exceptions for the elderly and handicapped people). On the flip side, it is extremely modern, benefiting from the latest technology. If you don’t have medical insurance and you have an accident, you will need to pay any medical intervention alone.

All the AE participants have the benefit of medical insurance in conformance with the legal regulations of the US Department of State of the USA, in what concerns the J-1 programs, and is included in the cost of the program. This is necessary in order to travel outside the US and is valid in US territory and the transit countries.
The insured sum covers the treatment costs in case of hospitalization, early return in the country of origin (for medical reasons), urgent dental treatment, loss of luggage, loss of plane ticket etc.
