High School Exchange

The application procedure

Deadlines for signing up in the program are:
 
  • 16th of December 2006
  • 10th of March 2007
  • 28th of April 2007

The program can last one semester (5 months) or one school year (10 months), period during which you will attend an American high school. Generally, the US school year begins in August and ends in May.

For a better selection of the host families and for better chances for the student, American Experience recommends that the application is made as soon as possible.

 
Romanian pupils are selected and interviewed by American Experience. In this purpose, American Experience will analyze the scholar results along with the references related to the applicants’ personality, character, and health condition. Each pupil will be individually interviewed and will have to pass the SLEP (Secondary Level English Proficiency) test, administrated by American Experience. Students who manage to pass the test and the interview will be given the complete application form, which has to be sent in no longer than 15 days to one of the following addresses:

The application forms are verified by American Experience. If accepted, the applications are sent to the partner organization, which will search for a host family and will see that the student is registered in the school year.
 

Necessary documents

  • SLEP test - taken at one of the American Experience offices
  • Application Form- provided by the American Experience office after taking the SLEP test
  • 2 photos of passport-type size
  • * Passport copy – the passport must be valid at least another 6 months after the program ends
  • ID copy
