Telephone
The country’s code: +1. The code for calling outside the USA: 011. For emergency, police, fire department and medical service, in most of the cities call 911. The following area codes mean free phone numbers: 800, 855, 866, 877 and 888. If you take along your cell phone, then you can buy pre-pay cards from T- Mobile - you pay only for how much you talk. Depending on the cards, you can even call to Romania or you can talk with friends in the USA. There are many sites where you can buy online special phone cards to call in Romania. But you must pay attention to the following things:
- the connecting fee;
- the fee for maintaining the account;

- if there are any differences between calling on a mobile phone and calling at home.

Internet
You can access the internet for free from almost every library. You should know that it is very difficult to find a “net café” in the USA. Usually, the internet is free, wireless, and all you need is a computer or laptop if you are at the airport, cafés like Starbucks and even in some public parks. In Union Square, for instance, you lie down on the grass with your laptop and chat with your friends from home through messenger. However, the easiest way to have access to the internet is in libraries, where you can use the computers at no cost, and if you have your own laptop, you find free wireless internet. In most cases, though, most Americans have internet at home. .

Post office
There are many post offices in the USA, and you can buy stamps from the vending machines situated in hotels too, or from ATMs, but at higher prices. The letters sent to Europe par avion get there in about a week. Postal offices are open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but in big cities, the main offices are open non-stop. Ways of sending packages from the USA to Romania:
- o by plane it takes up to 2 weeks and it costs about 20 USD / 11/2 kg;
