Transport in the US

  • Bus
    Bus The cheapest way to travel on the United States’ territory is the bus. The main advantage regarding this means of transportation is the low price, but disadvantages should be taken into consideration as well, like the long time it takes to get to the destination or the lack of high comfort.

    The most popular bus transport company is Greyhound. The tickets can be bought online from www.greyhound.com or directly from their offices existing in almost all cities, as well as from the bus stations.

  • Plane
    AutobuzIf you wish to travel comfortably and if time matters, here are the most convenient options in what regards plane transportation. The tickets can be purchased online, from one of the following sites. But keep in mind that in order to buy tickets online you need to have a debit card or a credit card!
    Check out the offers of some low cost companies too:

  • Train
    Autobuz The biggest American rail way company is Amtrak. One would believe that in the USA, the train is a very frequently used transportation, a convenient compromise between the bus accessibility and the speed and comfort of a plane. Still...it is not really like that! The train is even more expensive than the bus, it has bad connections, and the comfort level is not very high. Amtrak:

  • Car
    Autobuz There is another option: renting a car or, why not, buying one. It can be useful and very convenient if you “associate” with some friends. In order to rent a car, you have to show your driving license and your passport. The renting price varies according to the car, the insurance package you choose. Somewhere around 40$ and 200$ per day. In what regards buying a car, it is easier than you think – a hand-written piece of paper given buy the seller is the equivalent of the selling contract in our country. You pay the car insurance, register it and you can immediately drive it. The paper processing does not last more that 1-2 days. The price for a “summer long” car is somewhere between 400$ and 1000$. .

  • The Public Urban Transportation
    Autobuz The public urban transportation can be a genuine adventure. In big cities, we undoubtedly recommend the subway. It is the fastest and the cheapest; the bus is more expensive and slower. The ticket price varies from city to city, but it is usually around 1-1.5$. The cab is expensive, but not enormously (1.5$/mila); you can afford it from time to time. Don’t forget to leave a 15% tip. An exception to the rule is the concrete jungle New York City (and probably other megalopolises too), where you can only go by taxi or by public transport, mostly subway. nbsp;

Hitchhiking is considered extremely dangerous, both for the driver and for the hitchhikers, so do not count on this, nobody will give you a ride.
