Options and Costs

The cost of the program depends on where you live and work and the duration of your program

SELF-PLACEMENT

Self-placed applicants find their own employer and job. We recommend this for applicants who already have contacts in the USA or have participated in an exchange like Summer Work Travel before.

Other costs to keep in mind are:
• SEVIS Fee - $180
• Visa Application/Interview Fee - $185
• Plane ticket – We will help you find the best option for you.

Procedure

Procesul tau de inscriere depinde de varianta de program pe care o alegi.

SELF-PLACEMENT

If you choose Self-Placement, in addition to the required application documents, you must also submit proof that you have a job placement with an American company (Host Company Agreement & Verification) and an outline of the duties you will incur (Training/ Internship Placement Plan (DS-7002).

Host Company Agreement & Verification

Completed by the company where you intend to do your Internship/Training, this document offers details about the company and defines the rules and the expectations for the duration of your program.

Training/Internship Placement Plan (DS-7002)

The Training/ Internship Placement Plan is to be completed and signed by the Host Company (HC) and the participant. It is an essential part of the application process and allows the HC to outline the role you will have in the company and what you will learn over the course of the program. We can help you compose the text. A company must have at least 25 employees and/or an annual income of 3 million dollars to qualify as Host Company.

PRE-PLACEMENT

If you choose Pre-Placement, you visit our office with the required documents, and based on your background and experience we find a company where you can practice. You can also send us a CV, and we will contact you when something appropriate comes up.

All CVs must be in English and respect the American form. (Visit xxxx for an example.) Pay careful attention to every detail on your CV, as it is the first contact you have with potential employers. Your CV should briefly explain your educational and professional background and highlight any skills and experiences that are relevant to the job you seek. A well done CV can help you in the first stage of selection.

CULTURE SHOCK

Culture shock is the adaptation process to a new country and a new culture that is very different from yours. The climate, the food, the landscape, and the people are all different, and it can be quite strange at the beginning.

If you have culture shock, don’t panic; it is normal. Once you get used to living in the States and begin to understand the mentality, the shock will disappear.

You might be a little irritable/or homesick. In some cases, you will feel less self-confident and come to depend more on others from your home country – or even to feel that without them you couldn’t do anything. Lots of things can happen, but the best thing to do is not panic.

Advice for Getting over Culture Shock

• Keep yourself as busy as possible. Avoid standing around and feeling bored.

•Concentrate on the present and don’t dwell on memories from home. You’ll always find good stuff to do around you and things you enjoy doing.

• Talk to the people around you. Socialize, tell them about yourself, and make new friends with whom to spend your time.

• Take part in community activities, whether through sports, volunteering, or social events. Don’t sit around!

• Go out, go for a walk, and explore the town around you. You won’t achieve anything if you stay at home all day long sending e-mails to your loved ones.
